A TOP local singer songwriter has been hand picked to star in a 10th anniversary showcase of Scotland's best unsigned acts.
John Morgan, 31, from Port Glasgow, will play at Acoustic Affairs in Glasgow on Saturday night in the stunning surrounds of the City Hall. The singer also plays acoustic guitar and describes his brand of music as a blend of folk and pop but with a modern twist.
He cites Bob Dylan as one of his major musical influences.
John, who works as a painter and decorator in his day job, celebrated his birthday yesterday and says the chance to play the event in Glasgow was a nice early present.
He said: "It was my birthday this week so I'm very pleased to be picked. It is a special night showcasing some of the best singers and songwriters in a really nice venue. I've played for the organisers before in the same venue and they contacted me again for this show."
"I've always been writing songs and been in bands but in the last year I have gone out on my own. My first gig was in December last year at The Beatclub at Cafe Continental in Gourock."
"Hopefully this event in Glasgow is the start of things to come."
John will be recording an album and release it later in 2013.
